OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Administrator is expected to install, configure, and support all of Enemed’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), protocols, and technologies encompassing both virtual and physical Windows platforms. In addition, the Administrator is to perform technical and user support on ICT desktop environments by providing professional support services related to hardware, software and user support throughout the Company in adherence with industry standards and best practices at the various Enemed installations. This may entail remote assistance to the user.
DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES:
- Diagnose hardware and software problems of the existing network while replacing defective components in the process
- Perform data backups of the server/network system and disaster recovery operations
- Develop, maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations in accordance with agreed standards
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware
- Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use
- Perform routine network start up and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems (problem management)
- Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future
- Gather data pertaining to customer and business needs, and use such information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements so that the most efficient and cost-effective system solution is recommended
- Analyse equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement
- Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records
- Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation
- Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs
- Coordinate with vendors and with Company personnel in order to facilitate purchases.
- The Administrator will be involved in providing technical and administrative assistance in all stages of the ICT procurement, adjudication and certification processes in line with Enemed’s procedures and practices
- Perform routine ICT asset management tasks, by registering hardware installed/removed in an ICT asset register system for ICT desktop environments
- Perform preventive maintenance, test hardware components, resolve malfunctions and keep recorded results in an incident management system
- Evaluate/install/configure and/or remove software on various ICT equipment in accordance with agreed standards
- Test software components, resolve and record malfunctions and results in an incident management system. Software installed and/or removed is to be recorded in an ICT asset register system
- Providing user support by investigating and resolving user problems and guide user accordingly in specified timeframes
- Train people in the use of applications/software where necessary and devise work around modifications if necessary. Implemented enhancements are to be in close collaboration with the engineering and/or management teams
- Perform user accounts management and apply security permissions through established standard operating procedures (SOPs) while logging or recording such requests in associated Work Log
- The Administrator may be involved to support the implementation and management of various future ICT projects at Enemed in the business, infrastructure, and business- process re-engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO MEET POSITION OBJECTIVES:
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools, RDBMS programming and tools such as Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Share Point and associated development tools
- Knowledge of the installation, configuration and administration of Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems
- Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking technologies and protocols
- Have delivered technical services, interacting with users, hands-on administration
- Reasonable knowledge and understanding of the current utility business environment as well as the technological innovations and improvements which are influencing the way a utility operates.
- Must have a recognized Diploma (MQF Level 5) or higher in Information & Communications Technology (ICT) or Computer Studies or a related field
- Candidates who are in the process of achieving a level 5 qualification or higher in Information & Communications Technology or Computer Studies or a related field will be given due consideration.
- Work experience in supporting an ICT enterprise environment will be considered an asset.
